What
is your refund policy?
You
may get your money back if you call to cancel
at least 48 hours before your scheduled jump.
An office fee of $25 applies. No show or failure
to give 48 hours notice will result in your
deposit being used to pay the staff that were
scheduled in advance to work with you on the
appointed time. If you decide not to jump before
you are trained, we will gladly refund your
money less $50 to pay the staff. After training,
no money back.
Are
there extra costs involved?
Our prices include everything you need to make
the jump you are paying for, including jump
suit and goggle. There is no tax on Tandem training
jumps, no boarding fees or even Homeland Security
Fee. Video, pictures and souvenirs are the only
extras not included and tax will be collected.
Who
is USPA and are you rated through them?
The
United States Parachute Association or USPA
is the regulatory or governing agency serving
Skydivers. They are the only agency of their
kind in the United States and have set forth
standards in skydiving safety and training.
Skydiving centers that have pledged to abide
by these safety standards are called “Group
Members”. Skydive Cape Cod is a USPA Group
Member, and all of our Instructors boast instructional
ratings recognized by USPA.
Is
Skydiving Safe?
Skydiving
is a high risk sport! (You may be injured or
killed while participating). You must be willing
to accept this risk to Skydive. Skydive Cape
Cod is a United States Parachute Association
(USPA) Group Member. We follow the recommendations
of USPA, which is the national skydiving organization
that publishes skydiving rules and recommendations.
How’s
your safety record?
While
skydiving is definitely an extreme sport carrying
an obvious risk of serious injury or death on
every jump, we are proud to say that we have
not had a single student injury at Skydive Cape
Cod. Statistics have shown that skydiving injuries
typically occur during a poorly executed landing.
The tandem skydiving method employed by Skydive
Cape Cod greatly minimizes this risk by the
direct supervision of our highly experienced,
USPA rated tandem instructors. The equipment
used by us is also the most advanced tandem
skydiving equipment available on the market.
Safety is our primary objective. Please keep
in mind that accidents are still possible.
Do
I need a reservation?
Reservations
are strongly recommended and will always have
priority over walk-ins. Save money and arrive
on time!!!
What
are your business hours?
Skydive
Cape Cod is open on weekends in April, then
7 days a week from May to November, weekdays
9:00am until sunset and weekends 7:00am until
sunset.
Is
there a minimum/maximum age limit?
You
must be at least 18 years of age to Skydive,
NO EXCEPTIONS, so please don't ask! We require
a valid Photo ID/Passport. There is no predefined
maximum age. If you are in good health, it is
likely that you can jump.
Is
there a weight limit?
If
you are over the recommended weight of 220 pounds,
it is still possible to make a tandem Skydive.
The tandem weight limitation is based on a combined
student / instructor/ parachute pack loading
and cannot exceed 500 pounds. Persons larger
than 220 pounds must be proportional to their
weight and in good physical shape. The work
placed on the instructor becomes much greater
with heavier people so it is necessary that
students weighing in excess of 220 must pay
an additional amount of $20 to the instructor
for their efforts (this is not Tip). If your
weight exceeds 220, please call. Your weight
cannot exceed 240 lbs.
Can
I jump with my special health condition or physical
challenge?
Skydiving
is possible for more people than you might imagine.
We've made successful jumps with many people
that have special concerns. Each situation is
evaluated on a case by case basis, and you should
always seek your doctor's advice. Call us and
we will be happy to discuss your special needs
or concerns.
How
much does it cost?
Please refer to our current prices.
Do
you have group rates?
Yes.
Group rates begin with 4-9 and 10+ students.
Please call us at (508) 420-JUMP to discuss
booking your group and save money making your
party reservation online!
If
I chicken out, can I get a refund?
If
you decide not to jump before you are trained,
we will gladly refund your money, less the deposit
for your reservation. See our REFUND POLICY.
How
long will it take?
Expect
to spend at least 3 hours after you’ve
arrived at the drop zone. Skydiving is an outdoor
activity and we can’t control the weather.
What
about the weather?
Frequently,
our weather is different from that in the city
you live in. Also morning rain, overcast or
fog often clears up by afternoon jump time.
We cannot control the weather but we'll do everything
we can to minimize your wait. Cancellations
due to bad weather will not cause you to lose
your $50 deposit - as long as you showed up
to Skydive, or you were in contact with us that
morning, and it was mutually agreed to reschedule
the Skydive because of weather. Remember - you
can't Skydive if you are not here!
What
should I wear?
You
should wear comfortable clothes appropriate
for the season. Shorts and T-shirt for a hot
day are fine and if it's colder long pants and
a comfortable long sleeved shirt. All students
get equipped with a jumpsuit (upon request)
and goggles (standard). Please wear sneakers
- no Boots, shoes with hooks or sandals.
What
time should I arrive?
Please
plan sign in 30 minutes before your class begins.
How
high do you go?
Skydive
Cape Cod take you to 10,000 feet above the ground
(AGL). Don’t be mislead by altitudes above
Medium Sea Level (MSL).
How
hard is the landing?
All
the parachutes used at Skydive Cape Cod are
Ram Air (square) parachutes, which are highly
maneuverable. They can slow down to a great
degree allowing you to stand up or slide onto
the ground on your bottom.
What
if I wear glasses or contact lenses?
No
problem, we supply goggles that will fit over
your glasses and also keep your contacts in
place.
What
if I get sick?
A
few people have been known to get motion sickness
under the parachute but not in freefall. In
freefall you will feel like you are just floating
on a column of air, there is no feeling of height
or falling. If you are susceptible to motion
sickness, you should always seek your doctor's
advice, perhaps Gravol or Dramamine will help.
Ensure you inform your instructor of your tendency
of getting motion sickness.
Should
I get Video?
Of course, if it's your first jump. You WANT
a lifetime souvenir. You will never forget your
first jump. None of us ever do. Skydiving is
such a high speed and intense experience; many
people do not recall the details of their jump.
In the years to come, you can share the experience
with your friends and family.
Can
I split the Video with someone else?
Two
people can appear in one video on the ground
preparing for the sky dive, during the plane
ride and possibly for landing, but in freefall,
only one student can be filmed by one camera,
so a separate video is necessary for each jump
you want to memoralize.
What
kind of plane do you fly?
Our
fleet is currently comprised of one Cessna 182
full time and one Cessna 206 on demand.
What
if my parachute doesn't open?
All
sport parachute systems contain two parachutes,
a main and a reserve. The instructors are highly
trained in the use of the system and while the
need to use the reserve is very rare, it does
happen occasionally. All of our student systems
are equipped with an automatic activation device,
AAD, which is a sophisticated on board computer
that senses speed and altitude. The computer
is designed to activate the reserve parachute
if it senses that you are too close to the ground
and falling too fast.
Can
I bring a cooler, Frisbee or pet?
You
are welcome to bring a Frisbee or other items
to keep you occupied while you're waiting to
jump. Coolers are fine so long as there is no
alcohol. ALCOHOL is strictly prohibited on the
airport premises during operating hours. If
we suspect you've been drinking YOU WILL NOT
Skydive, and you will be asked to leave. Please
leave pets at home, no dogs are allowed for
your own safety, as well as everyone else's.
How
long is the jump?
You'll
spend about 20 minutes in the plane, up to 45
seconds in freefall, and 5 to 6 minutes under
the parachute.
Can
I jump with my friends?
We'll
do everything we can to put you on the same
plane with whoever you choose, but we can not
guarantee it.
Who
packs the parachutes?
At
Skydive Cape Cod, all main parachutes are packed
by our instructors and the reserve parachute
is packed by a FAA certificated parachute rigger.
Auxiliary or reserve parachutes are inspected
and repacked every 120 days.
